DOES TAKING MEGADOSES NECESSARY?
Taking vitamins is important in our body’s maintenance of good health. Is it advisable to take vitamins in mega doses?
Many people were taking vitamins in mega dose believing for a quick cure from their minor ailment without thinking it lead to toxicity. Even if the vitamins were organic molecules it should not be taken in excess of what is required. It is more safe if taken under the direction of a prescription.
Taking vitamins has added benefits but in excess lead to vitamin poisoning. Some vitamins was used to reduce the risk of certain heart disease or any type of cancer. Even folic acid reduces the risk of birth defects.
The recorded symptoms in taking mega doses are the following:
Vitamin C produces headache, tiredness, diarrhea or double vision. It interferes with the absorption of other fat-soluble vitamins. It causes kidney and gallbladder stones.
Although folic acid prevents anemia but it will damage the nerve of the body and kidney.
Vitamin K may result to anemia.
Vitamin A produces tiredness, vomiting, constipation, severe headache, dry skin or brittle nails.
Vitamin D may cause vomiting, pain in the joints, loss of appetite. There are others who experienced constipation or diarrhea and abdominal cramp.
Vitamin B-12 was used in the treatment of anemia but taking in excess will lead to tiredness or feeling weak.
Vitamin B6 causes difficulty in walking and tingling sensation of the legs. A difficulty in handling something in the hand due to numbness.
Niacin or nicotinic acid causes flushing of the skin, nausea, diarrhea and liver damage. It lowers blood cholesterol if taken in moderate dose.
The only prevention from side effect caused by taking vitamins in mega doses is self-control. Follow doctor’s prescription. Don’t attempt to self-medicate, only doctors can do.
LET’S TALK ABOUT REFRIGERATOR
Maintenance of your refrigerator should be done periodically where your food items were stored to prevent spoilage. If the door closed, the remaining cold air inside your ref will be preserve during the duration of the brown-out. Take items only if you need them.
When you noticed that the brown-out was already occurred many times in the space of few hours everyday, it is better for you to find another way to put your cold drinks out of the ref. Make an ice box ready. Put your drink bottles or tetra packs embedded in the ice. Ice pack or cubes still available in the market. Not all area of the city experience brown-out. No need to open the door of the ref if not needed.
Another tip useful to you is to make an extra cellophane ice pack according to sizes. Once brown-out occur, you can still have a cold water. Transfer to your ice box to limit opening the ref. Ensure to leave extra ice in the ref to help make the food items fresh at all time.
In freezing your food items mostly chicken, pork and beef, it is better to store in a separate packing or any containers most appropriate. There are many plastic containers in different sizes you can buy in the supermarket. It is easy to remove the food items if needed. You can label it for easy identification.
Do packing of your items enough for one setting. No need to return the other unused item to the ref to avoid repeated opening of its door. Pack according to your requirement.
To retain the freshness of your food items, use only a wrapping materials that can seal both ends effectively. Used a quality aluminum foil recommended to most of the housewives. You Use plastic containers or jars with tight lid.
